The allotment is ready to go and onion sets are the first thing to get into the ground this year. Could have gone in earlier but due to the Beast from the East...a little delayed! make a neat shallow trench and place the sets about 6 inches/ 5 cm apart or as packet dictates. Tania is growing a mix or white and red onions that should be ready in late summer to start lifting as and when she wants some. Indoor sowing into trays and pots can start and give you some headway. As soon as the ground temp is 6 degrees and above then most seeds will start to germinate ....due to the weather it's a little behind but a few sunny days will soon warm up the top layer of soil.
